Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered a variety of interesting indie games. However, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is truly a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is simple: you only need a jump control. Across 150 stages, you'll face boss fights and unlock a market to acquire outfits for your dung hero.
Plan your actions precisely, since one mistake means restarting the level. Leap using air pockets to propel the poop to new heights, traverse fragile surfaces, and interact with triggers to unlock new areas. Gather UN-KOINS for buying challenging levels as things gets crazy.
Visually, the experience features vibrant environments and catchy music score. The simple graphics with morphing basic polygons could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
Even though hard to recall previous releases where you control a piece of feces, gaming frequently incorporated scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. Naturally, fecal references appears extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant awards, including winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on PC this November.
