Munich Air Terminal Halts Flights for Second Occasion in 24 Hours Due to Suspected Unmanned Aircraft Incidents
Germany's Bavarian airport has suspended operations for the second time in a single day, following more unconfirmed drone observations.
In a statement on Friday night, the airport said that operations were halted at 9:30 PM local (8:30 GMT), disrupting approximately six thousand five hundred passengers.
No fewer than 17 aircraft were also grounded in Munich on Thursday evening due to several drone reports in surrounding flight paths.
It represents the most recent in a string of occurrences featuring drones that have affected aviation in the continent in recent weeks.
EU Agencies Investigate UAV Events
Authorities in the Belgian region on that day were also looking into observations of 15 drones, which were spotted above the Elsenborn military site close to the frontier.
Following the observation, the devices according to reports moved from that nation to the neighboring country, where they were also spotted by authorities in the tiny town in Germany of the DĂźren area.
Authorities have been unable to determine where the UAVs originated or who operated them.
Ministerial Response and Regulations
Germany's Home Affairs Minister Alexander Dobrindt has said he will bring up the topic of counter-UAV measures at a conference of European interior ministers, which was initially billed as a policy conference.
