Attorney General Discloses Investigation into President's Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Connections
On Friday, the Attorney General assigned Jay Clayton to head an investigation into opponents of Donald Trump and their links with the late financier. This decision came shortly after the president ordered her to begin the probe.
During an announcement, the Attorney General praised Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This action contrasts with a July memo from federal authorities which declared that the Epstein files did not warrant additional investigations. According to the memo, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
Trump Demands Focus on Political Opponents in the Epstein Case
This news comes as growing demands from the president on lawmakers to resist the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents before an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to back the disclosure.
Newly public communications from Jeffrey Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, including details that his knowledge of Epstein’s behavior exceeded prior admissions.
That same day, the President declared he would direct the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
